One thing that jumped out from this month's team check-in is just how different everybody's version of a few good weeks can look. Some guys have been traveling and competing, some are getting long-overdue trail time, and others have been buried in builds back at home (same!).
And in at least one case, the biggest news had nothing to do with RC at all!

Josh Wilson gave the old Yota some trail time at an OG meetup, complete with a fresh set of Locked Up RC wheels.
Brian Muzzy Returns to Scale Nationals
Brian Muzzy made the trip to Cedar City, Utah for Scale Nationals—his first Nats since 2019(!).
It was apparently a hot weekend, but more importantly it gave him another chance to spend time with friends he sometimes only gets to see once a year. That part of these larger events is easy to overlook, its always great getting to see friends from in and around the hobby!
Brian sent over a bunch of photos from the weekend, and his teal rig definitely got plenty of time on the rocks.

JSLICK Has Been Putting in the Miles
John “JSLICK” Slichter apparently hasn't had much trouble finding reasons to get his trucks out this season!
His year started with the club's Spring Opener in April, a camping weekend that John has also used for the last five years to set gates for his birthday run—the Filthy 55 Bonus Gate Challenge! (What a name!)
May brought a Tough Truck event, where John took first place with his LURC Tough Truck.
Then came a busy July with RECON G6 and The Fix at Blue Rocks Family Campground. John ran the 3 Hour Fix and completed nine laps, then took his H10 Optic to Pinnacle Rock for another four and a half hours of challenging driving and what sounded like a pretty worthwhile view at the end.
He's also picked up a Redcat Vertex10 that is headed toward a more performance-focused setup, naturally with some Locked Up RC colors, hardware and wheels finding their way onto it -we cant wait to see it!

John “JSLICK” Slichter has packed his season with club events, competitions and plenty of hours on the trail.
A First Podium—and a Much Bigger Milestone
Justin "Bama RC" Davis had two completely different reasons to celebrate.
On the racing side, he took second place in the 1RC 24th-scale race, earning his first podium at that track. - Congrats!
That's a pretty good update on its own.
Then he followed it up by casually mentioning that his family also welcomed their sixth grandchild!!!
I'd say that makes the podium the second-biggest accomplishment in the house this month.
Congrats to Bama and the whole family. Oh, and way to rock the Locked Up RC shirt in the picture!

Sometimes You Just Need to Get the Old Truck Out
Josh Wilson got out for an OG meetup at one of the group's favorite spots.
The rain managed to hold off. The humidity and mosquitoes apparently didn't get the memo - but its almost always worth it!
Still, it gave Josh a chance to stretch the legs on his old Yota and put in some trail time. He also mounted up a fresh set of Locked Up RC wheels for the occasion, and judging by the photos, the truck looked right at home against the mossy rocks and woods. (See Top of page)
There's something hard to beat about taking an older favorite back out instead of always needing the newest build on the trail.
Eric Mattson Is Getting Back to Building
Eric Mattson has several projects moving at once, but don't we all? Haha!
His Optic is getting portals, he's also working on his VP Phoenix, and he recently picked up files for two CAC (Colorado Adventure Club) buggies that will eventually become complete chassis builds.
More importantly, he's getting back into welding and fabrication work! And he even taught me some of his TIG welding tips and tricks! Eric shared that he's finally finished physical therapy for the hand he broke at the end of April, so the timing couldn't be much better for getting those projects underway - great to see him back to 100%!

Eric Mattson's Optic is getting portals while several more fabrication projects wait in the wings.
Around the Team
Jonathan Sullivan has been bouncing between Ledgerock, wheeling, upgrades and several different builds. He's been experimenting with scale hardware from around the shop, running some new wheels and putting together a particularly fun K10 from leftover parts—a bed from one truck, tailgate from another and a door from somewhere else entirely.

The mismatched body panels might have given off some Volkswagen Harlequin energy, but the explanation was much simpler: use what you've got!
Jarrett Lemke has been working on a few video shorts featuring a couple of his trucks running Locked Up RC wheels. He's also putting together a dedicated video area in his garage, so hopefully we'll start seeing the results of that setup soon!
Garage/Studio/Gym - its multipurpose!
Until Next Time
That's a pretty solid cross-section of what the team has been doing lately—big events, little trail days, podiums, projects waiting on the bench and some life happening outside RC along the way. Thanks for reading through to the end and we will see you on the next one!
